Par-tay!

Went to a Bling-bling party on Saturday, hosted by my bro Graeheme's boss and his wife, at the very prestigious venue of Corstorphine house. I took Neelam, Graeheme took Michelle, and we had them over for dinner first, perhaps to contrast the differing styles between the Beck household and the local 5-star. No comparision was necessary. Arrived fashionably late and took a look round all the rooms upstairs, for everyone was busy downstairs, the ladies gossiping and the men watching the rugby, which I casually dropped in on every so often. The suites were awesome! Indian room, Moroccan room, Art Deco room, Egyptian room, French room, Scandinavian room and Japanese room. Unfortunately it was the modern equivalent of each of these cultures, so no eunuchs in loincloths waved palm fronds in any of the rooms, much to the disappointment of the girls, ho ho. Still classy though. A delicious wine and cheese spread was served soon after the game, and there was even a Bordeaux room available, in which anyone was free to enter and try a 2001 vintage... OK, not much of a vintage, but still Bordeaux. Graeheme, I and our plus ones did Ceroc dancing on the dance floor for a while, well, I did what moves I could remember, until it began to fill up with sloshed old folks dancing hard out to the BeeGees. All I wanted later in the night was a Coke, but this place was much too classy and they could only offer Heineken, Stella, Macs, Champers, Bordeaux or sparkling water. I wasn't in the mood for drinking much at all, so I opted for the weird lack of taste in sparkling water. Dancing continued well into the night, we eventually left at around 12.45am, around the same time as my old Columba school principal. Scary, am I getting older or is she getting cooler? Having us there did bring the average age at the party down to about 37, but who says oldies don't know how to get down? Here are a couple of pics.
